Next Generation of Software Modeling - DSM

If you're doing software, e-commerce development, design pattern & modeling are always a challenging task. The popular modelings, such as UML, OOA, OOD and OOP, MVC, GoF and etc, each of them has pro and con. To find out the best one to fit your project will spend most of time on your development cycle.

Currently, a new moelling concept called Domain-specific Modeling (DSM) announced that "Domain-specific modeling promises to change the modeling landscape by providing a greater level of abstraction from code than UML, providing modeling constructs for developers that mimic the real-world objects more closely, and most importantly, providing complete code-generation capabilities, which together lead to a much more productive way for developers to model applications."

Window Live!

Windows Live is not a hosted version of Windows. To distill it to its essence, Windows Live is the new name for the growing family of MSN services that are in various stages of development. The Start.com aggregator, the "Kahuna" Hotmail beta, MSN Spaces blogging tool, MSN Favorites and Windows OneCare are all part of the one, big Windows Live family now.

I tried it couple days ago. It's using AJAX & DHTML heavily on the interface. Even it's not that stable, (I had lost my session couple times on my tries, but yea, beta version, what do you expect), I started to love it.

Try Window Live Beta

It is really good for site feed (RSS, Atom), because you don't need any tools to help you saving all favour feed URL, you only need a browser and live.com will save all the config and site feed you subscribed. However, you must have a MSN or Hotmail account to do that. That's one of the thing I don't like (microsoft style), c'mon can I switch the mail service to Gmail? :)

Kids Smash a new 20GB iPod

It's strange world.

That's how kids make money today.
1) Pick a super hot topic today, ok "iPod" will do
2) Think about some crazy ideas (project), such as "Smash a brand new iPod", ok great.
3) Setup a web site call http://SmashMyiPod.com, then ask people to donate money so that they can purchase a new iPod and start their project.
4) They finally got enough donation and purchase a iPod, open it right inside the store, and destroy it right on the spot. The whole thing was shot on film, and displayed on their site (CRAZY dude, it's crazy)
5) They said they're making "pocket money" from the ads of the site (Sweet!).

ok, let's see the video shot - "Smash my iPod" (visit SmashMyiPod.com)

Weird, really weird!!

Flash based MMORPG - Dofus

As you know, I usually spend my spare time on online gaming, but only looking for free one.

Back to 2 years ago, I found a Javascript based MMORPG - TRIGLV, wrote by gang of Japanese. It is easy to play no installation required and run under pure javascript on your web browser, but the result and game play is completely impressed you. I played it night & day with my ex-coworker Kevin and try to beat each other by exp, lvl and weapons. And it's completely FREE.

About a year ago, Kevin found another Java Applet based MMORPG - runescape, that's the one I currently playing, again we were addicting on it. Kevin is kinda quit of it today, but I'm still playing it. It requires JavaVM to be installed on you local computer, strictly speaking, you don't need to install anything and you can easy to play/launch it on ur web browser. The well-developed Java 3D engine and the speed are totally impressed me, and it is kinda FREE if you don't want to paly it with full functionalities.

Today, Jason introduced a new Flash based MMORPG - Dofus to me. What the heck! The graphics are so awesome beautiful. Among above games, it has the best music and sound effect so far. I haven't play it and just sign up today, and it is FREE from the beginning. It is completly flash based, and you required to install the game on your local machine before playing. If you're interested, take a look for some of the gallery first. Have fun!

How to keep more photos on Flickr.com?!

First of all, I recommend you should pay for it, Flickr services are cheap and worth a lot, and it only cost you US$24+ each year.

If you're like me, yea... a cheap idiot, and that's how you do it.

If you stored photo on Flickr.com as free member, you will find out that it can only store max 200 photos and create max 3 sets. After you have more than 200 photos, your old photos will be gone from your profile. However, Flickr won't delete your old photos, and they're just NOT be able to view under your profile.

In order to find back my old photos easier, I add as many unique tags as possibile, such as your first & last name or email address.

After done that, go to "Advance Search" of "Tags" section of Flickr, type in as many unique tags as you can; for example, my Las Vegas vacation photos, I entered "Las Vegas", "Hotel", "Henry" and "Wing", then do a search, here yago, a complete set of my vacation photos (view result | slideshow).

Again, I'll recommend you pay for it :)
